Website Committee Report Jan - 2012

Congratulations Scudders!

There has been a great deal of work to get to this point. We have made wonderful progress restructuring our 100 year old association into a virtual environment. We are now better staged for future growth of, and better outreach to, our membership. Both current and future members will have the opportunity to build friendships, find resources, and share in making the goals of the Association possible.

A great deal of house keeping needed to be done, in particular with our membership list and management practices to get here. We also needed to update the site to Drupal 7, integrate a new look and navigational flow to the site for it to function more efficiently. To cap off that new look, we added a centennial logo, 1st read and events section to better highlight the activities of the organization on the scudder.org home page. A very exciting feature is the added functionality to grow online and physical regional chapters. These chapters can post images to their own galleries, schedule events, and manage email lists; all to promote and foster their unique local Scudder groups.

The Scudder organization is now prepared to move forward into the future with the tools necessary to build an online community. To successfully make this transition the organization needs to define a strategy, gather the resources, and build a team that shares a common vision. After over ten years of work on the site, I am no longer able to head this project. I will remain in the wings to support the group but will do so in a limited fashion. I wish you all the greatest of luck and look forward to witnessing the future growth of the Scudder Community.

Cheers and Thanks you all!
Scudder G. Stevens II
