I have not been able to confirm with the searches I have done whether John Baylis, who was married at the Old First Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Huntington,LI as John Bailey and later known as John Baylis was or was not a Patriot. I have confirmed that a John Baylis was a member of the Suffolk County Militia during the revolution. Since he was married to Phebe Lewis, a daughter of Abigail Scudder Lewis (Mrs. Joseph Lewis)I was hoping you would have record of John Baylis. Family notes indicate that Scudder records verify that he was a Patriot.
